Paediatric Endoscopic surgeons group of India (PESI) was founded by  Dr. Ramkumar Raghupathy in Coimbatore. PESI was formally inaugurated in May 2005 in Coimbatore with 21 founder members, which has presently increased to more than 400 members.

As laparoscopic surgery has become an essential part of any surgical practice, Paediatric surgeons of India under the leadership of Prof. T Dorairajan and Prof. Ramkumar Raghupathy thought of carrying the legacy forward. Paediatric laparoscopy requires added skills and dexterity on the part of surgeons compared to other branches. The limited space for access and ergonomics in children makes laparoscopic surgery in children more demanding. Hence the group strives to target the budding paediatric surgeons and post graduate students in Paediatric Surgery by giving them adequate exposure for performing safe laparoscopic surgery.

Long live PESI

Constitution of PESI

Message from chairman

Dear Friends

At the very outset, I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks for your trust in  choosing me as Chairman,   entrusting the leadership of PESI for the next tenure. I assure you, that while being a person of few words, i will strive to build up the strength of PESI along with my enthusiastic team. I will share my vision for my tenure as Chairman .

      1.  To increase awareness among the public and medical colleagues about the benefits of Minimally invasive surgery in children

      2. To start at least 3 training centres in each zone of the country. Aim of this is to teach young paediatric surgeons in regional centres, encompassing both basic and advanced laparoscopic / robotic surgery

      3. Increase engagement with regional SAARC countries with more presence at their meetings and inviting them for our workshops & meetings

      4. Showcase laparoscopy & robotic surgery from various centres in a regular manner with video of the month schedule.

I would also seek your cooperation in strengthening the chapter by increasing membership. Kindly encourage your residents, friends and colleagues to join the PESI chapter to keep our strength increasing and enable stupendous growth in all ways. I seek cooperation & support from all of my fellow PESI members to fulfil this vision.

Long live PESI ! Long live IAPS !
